Session Overview:

With the shift to distance learning, many students felt lost and alone. Teachers can provide them with a connection to their classroom, whether that is virtual or hybrid or face-to-face, through engagement strategies within the LMS. These strategies are effective, provide community and connection for students, and allow the teacher to establish a clear presence at the same time they manage their workflow. Come learn these strategies to engage your learners no matter the learning environment!

Facilitator Bio:

Dana Thompson has been working in education for over 25 years, and in online education for the past 13 years. She has experience in the virtual classroom as a teacher and in the instructional design environment designing engaging courses in Canvas, Google Classroom, and other LMS platforms. Most recently she has been supporting Ventura County Canvas Districts with implementing the Canvas LMS, training teachers, and serving as the administrator for the county Canvas LMS instance. Her many roles have provided her with a wealth of experience that she is excited to share in this shift to integrating Ed Tech tools and platforms to supplement the traditional classroom environment.
