Dana Thompson

Dana Thompson has worked in education for over 25 years and in online education for the past 13 years. She has experience in the virtual classroom as a teacher and in the instructional design environment designing engaging courses in Canvas, Google Classroom, and other LMS platforms. Most recently she has been supporting Ventura County Canvas Districts with implementing the Canvas LMS, training teachers, and serving as the administrator for the county Canvas LMS instance. Her many roles have provided her with a wealth of experience that she is excited to share in this shift to integrating Edtech tools and platforms to supplement the traditional classroom environment.

Overview:

Introduction: This will be a brief introduction to our 2nd annual Ed Tech Symposium. There will be an overview of what is in store for the day including the scheduled sessions and facilitators.
Keynote: As we reflect on the changes forced upon education through the Pandemic, it has become clear that providing equitable access to education is crucial. In this conversation, Dana Thompson will discuss the role of technology and the impact it can have on teaching and learning. Rather than simply digitizing what is currently happening in classrooms, we will explore how technology can be utilized to accelerate student learning while also providing teachers more quality time to focus on their students' progress towards mastery. Participants will be introduced to the T3 Framework, a research-based learning framework that provides highly reliable methods for improving student learning and wellbeing, with peer-reviewed effect sizes of 1.6 and higher.
